Fighting for Fertility

Ok, you might be wondering why I have labelled it 'Fertility' and not 'Infertility'.. I just have never liked the term 'infertility' because to me it feels like an unnecessary label. Something that is decided, something finalised. While in fact only God knows for sure, or maybe until we are past the point of a child bearing age!
Therefore I choose to say fertility, and believe that it is just a matter of learning how to optimise our fertility while we wait for Gods answers and timing! .. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
After about three years of trying, my husband and I started dealing with the Fertility unit at the hospital who suggested to us to try IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). So we went for our info appointment to learn all about how this whole process works, in hopes that this would take place within the month. However we were told that we would now have to wait six months to do this procedure, because we were travelling to a Zikka infected country for my brother in laws wedding.. Well you can imagine how devastated we were, but what was another six months on three years?
It was on our little wedding vacation that we were told about Fertility Care Toronto, I had known a few people who had been to this place and when we were told about it we thought we might as well give them a try since we have six months to wait. The one thing that intrigued me most about this place was the fact that they had PMS listed as a cause of infertility! Their success stories for PMS alone was something that I was willing to get on board with! Well this specialist tested me and my husband for all sorts of stuff. Things that our regular doctors would have never done. Despite being on herbs and supplement for years, I found out that I basically wasn't even producing progesterone, and that my thyroid, B12, estrogen and Iron were all too low to become pregnant. So she wrote up some prescriptions and we went on our way.
Well!! Let me tell you, progesterone was a good start. Turns out progesterone is what softens the uterus to let the lining out when its trying to shed, so with no progesterone you can imagine why even that would add pain to the onset of a period! My tiredness had reduced to almost nothing and my husbands sperm motility had increased to normal as well :) Over time I have noticed so many differences in myself as my hormones adapt and balance out! My skin is softer and brighter, my hair has become more curly, my breasts are fuller, my periods are a nice red colour the way they should be, and my pre - period spotting has gone from 3+days to maybee one!
Once all of our levels were up to where our specialist had wanted them to be, she told us that we should have been able to fall pregnant by now, so she referred me to have a laparoscopy to run some diagnostic things and check for endometriosis.
Well this July 14th I had a laser laparoscopy, to confirm a diagnosis of Endometriosis! Although others fertility may not be directly effected by their endometriosis we are hoping that mine did. Following my surgery the surgeon said it should hopefully give me a boost in fertility, and that my tubes are open and my uterus looks great!
So it has now been five years since we decided to try and have children, but in a way we feel like we have only just started. With all these things fixed from a scientific point of few, we now continue to do what we can and lay all the rest into the hands of our Good and Gracious God!
